I'm trying too tear apart my new shuffle headphones and it's not that easy... Does vid shows a new or old headphones? I'm guessing they've changed a bit...

-> Greg: Instead of guessing you can use multimeter and trs pinouts (should be somewhere in the Web).

my ipod shuffle headphones cannot snap apart like shown in the tutorial. I am going to have to splice the wire instead. And going to have to guess where each of the wires goes

You should make a new vid showing how to add a jack after the button so you can use whatever headphones you want without destroying them.

Wouldn't it be better to cut the wires removing the ear buds, and put in a plug that will allow you to use any variety of earbuds or headphones. Then you can select one set of headphones and change them later without having to solder again.

I think a better option would be to place a headphone jack where the ear buds once lived. That way you only need to damage one set of headphones.

Hey, thanks for the tip.

However, whem you replied to that last comment u were actually being a "stupid ass".

That connector is commonly referred to as a "mini-jack". Its actual name is a 2.5mm TRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve) connector. The actual connector is called the jack plug and the thing you plug it into is called a jack socket or just socket.

So next time you decide to slag off one of your viewers make sure you have your facts right.

Sorry about the rant. I work with all sorts of different connector all the time and usually get ,unreasonably, pissed off when people keep insisting on saying the wrong things.
